Weight loss update

I love going to gym every night. It's funny how quickly it has just become routine. It really helps wash sweat away the stress and tensions of the day.
But I tell you what, I'm really struggling to resisting all those yummy looking Eater eggs filling the supermarkets!

Monday was weigh in day and I was surprised by what the scales were telling me (yes I gave into one or more small chocolate bunnies) that I got off and on them about 4 times. I had lost 2.6 kilos bringing me to a total of 13 kilos in 8 weeks!!

New Do

While husbeast was away in Cairns a few weeks ago for the National Tourism Awards I decided to change my hair style.

 Before
(hair was half way down my back)

 After
(just below my shoulders and with a fringe!)
and playing with BeFunky iPhone app

I thought husbeast was going to freak (he always told me never to cut my hair cos he loved it long) but he LOVED my fringe (reminded him of when we first met in our teen years lol) so much he didn't notice the difference in the length

Hmm now I have  fringe maybe I could get my eyebrow re pierced and he wont notice......

No rights for home birthers

It has hit like a huge punch in the guts just how much home birthers are discriminated against.

I free birthed my daughter in my home on the 7/7/2011 and I contacted our local hospital with whom I had pre natal care with on the 10/8/2011 to ask for a letter about my care so I could register her home birth.
See I need a letter from my own doctor and the hospital stating they saw me during my pregnancy so I can prove I was pregnant and did in fact give birth.

Week after week I got "we will get back to you", " I will see what I can do and ring you back", "I will get my manager onto it and she will send it out to you"
6 months down the track I'm still waiting. Yesterday I decided not to ring them back (yet again) but to go on up to women's health at the Bendigo Hospital and talk to them in person.
I spoke to a woman named Sam who said she couldn't do anything right there and then as she needs to get my records up from the records department but would get me what I wanted by the end of the week.

Well today a lady called Tracy who was there yesterday and kept butting in saying "we can't give you a letter saying you birthed here because you didn't" *sigh* I polity replied to her that isn't what I wanted and once again explained exactly what I wanted. I kept getting an anti home birthing vibe from her.
So today she rings me to say they can't and wont be supplying me with what I need.
I asked her why and she babbled something about them not seeing me within a few days of or after me giving birth so can't provided documentation saying I did.
I started to get a little angry (OK a lot) and explained that they did indeed see me only a few days before I gave birth and even rang the very next day because I had missed an appointment. Which a pone finding out I gave birth offered to send out a Dom midwife to see me, which I accepted.
Tracy then went on to say they wont give me the letter I'm after unless I get a legal document to state what I need. (she also refused to let me speak to her manager)
I don't have to money to go to a lawyer to get a letter for them. I have NEVER heard of this kind of thing happening.
I'm appalled by the way I have been treated because I chose to home birth.

I,m not sure if it was the threats I was going to take this issue to the head of the hospital or the threats I was going to take this public any way I can (which I still will, I'm going to start drafting a letter to my local paper tonight) but Tracy rang me back withing 5 minutes saying her "manager" wasn't aware that I had received care at the hospital so close to my birth she (the manage)will ring me back within the next half hour (there goes my plans for before school pick up time) to discuss what I need.

Hmm more stone walling perhaps?

So after a lot of tears of anger and frustration, I'm now in that stunned WTF do I do now state.

Gotta love the public hospital system hey,NOT! HA its because of them I chose to with a home birth..but story is for another post when I'm feeling strong enough to talk about it.

Adding to the flock

Nope not me, this isn't a pregnancy announcement lol

Meet

Ruby ( is a Red Rhode Island)

and Nelly (is a Light Sussex)

Ruby was the first chick to come live with us. I had gone to the bird shop to pick up some food for Chook Chook and Rosie. As always I went through to the back to check out what chickens they had.
It was love at first site when I saw her (or him, but hopefully not). I'm not sure if it was the fact she was the only one of her kind so she stood out or the fact that she was the smallest and the others (mainly the big Australorp chicks) where stepping all over her a pushing her out of the way of the water and food feeders.
My heart melted and I couldn't leave her there to be bullied. I told the lady I would take her.
On the drive home I thought about where I would keep her and decided I would turn our big wood box (which happens to be a huge box husbeast got a delivery in once and has no wood in it) into a home for her.
I pulled up home, took her out of the box she was in and walked inside announcing to everyone "meet Ruby"
The kids came rushing over ooo and arrr over her, as I knew they would.
Husbeast came over and said "who and what is a Ruby"
I announced proudly that Ruby is my new baby chicken.
Lucky for me Husbeast  is a big softy and as soon as he saw her  he was smitten.

I put her back in her box temporarily while I went and decobwebed the wood box, filled it with wood shavings and set up her water and food feeders.  DH found me a temporary lid (an old flyscreen)
After watching her walk around chirping for a few hours I decided she needed a friend. I ran it past Husbeast first this time, to which he said "I don't care. Get as many chickens as you like". Hmmm you may just regret saying that one day *insert evil laugh*
Defiantly to big for just one baby chicken
The next day while it was just me and the two youngest ones home I ventured back to the bird shop to pick up a friend for Ruby. This time I let Master R pick one out.
So I'm now the proud mamma to two teen chooks and two baby chooks :)
Chook and Rosie haven't taken much interest in the younger ones yet. They jumped up on the edge of the box when they walked past the first time and heard Ruby and Nelly chirping away, They just stood there looking in for a few minutes and then flew back down and wondered off.
At the moment Ruby and Nelly sleep inside due to the cold and  the temporary roof on their box. Husbeast and I will be building a proper lid this week.
Perfect for raising more little chickens LOL

Best friends already ♥♥♥
